Policies at Capitol Internal Medicine Associates

Our receptionists and Medical Assistants are available during our office hours for assistance with prescription refills, scheduling and conveying messages to our Physicians.

Same-Day Appointments

Same day appointments are available. If you have an urgent issue, please call 916-984-7880 or 916-966-8500 at the earliest and we’ll do everything we can to try to see you that day.

Appointment Information

We sincerely appreciate the opportunity to provide your medical care. We believe that your time is very valuable and we make a sincere effort to adhere to our appointment schedule. Please be on time. If you will be late for a scheduled appointment, please call us at 916-984-7880 or 916-966-8500 so we can make appropriate arrangements.

Cancellation Policy

Please give us one business day’s notice before cancelling your appointment. If you do not call us to cancel your appointment, you will be charged a $25 service fee.

After Hours / On-Call Coverage

Capitol Internal Medicine Associates are part of a large call group and a physician is always available by phone to assist our patients with emergencies. If you need to speak with a physician after hours, please call 1-800-901-5812. As a general rule, narcotic refills are not provided over the phone after hours.

If after hours care is needed for urgent issues and you think you really have to see a healthcare professional, we encourage you to contact local urgent care Centers first. The following Urgent Care Centers are located in Folsom:

  • MDStat Urgent Care Center-3840 El Dorado Hills Blvd, Suite 303, El Dorado Hills. 916-941-9222. Open 9AM-9 PM.
  • RapidCare- 13385 Folsom Blvd. #800, Folsom. 916-673-1200. Open 9AM-8PM (Mon-Fri); Sat-9AM-5PM. Closed Sundays.

If there is a life-threatening emergency, please call 911.

Please call us regarding all other issues during our normal office hours. Examples of non-emergency issues include requests for treatment of non-urgent conditions, prescription refills, and results of laboratory testing.

Prescription refills

Please allow at least 48 hours for prescription refills and contact your local pharmacy at the earliest.  All the prescription except narcotics are filled through ERx (electronic refills) or fax. Please contact the office if there is a change in the pharmacy location. Please bring all your prescriptions at your first visit.

Billing and Insurance

Our practice accepts all the major private insurances and Medicare. Our practice requires that all patients keep a valid credit card on file. In the event that a patient has a co-insurance, deductible, a change in co-pay amount or your visit is not covered due to a pre-existing condition or for any other reason your card will be charged.

Medical Records

We use electronic medical records and the database requires us to scan a copy of the driver license. We request that you provide us with that at the time of initial visit. An email address is also requested to allow the physician to communicate with you regarding labs and other health matters. We’re committed to your privacy and we will only use your e-mail for communicating with you and not for any other purpose. Review our complete confidentiality policy.
